Gary UMC in Wheaton to host August blood drive

During the summer months, the need for blood is great. Walk-ins are welcome at the blood drive on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton. You can also plan ahead and sign up for a slot between 2 and 6 p.m. via garychurch.org.

For every pint donated, you can save up to three lives. At the church’s last blood drive, 22 people registered, 20 people gave 23 units, and up to 57 lives were saved. After the summer blood drive, the next blood drive is scheduled for Nov. 20.

The church at 224 N. Main St. offers 9 a.m. summer Sunday worship, complete with Kids’ Church and nursery care, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org. At 10 a.m., you can enjoy a coffee hour called “Special Blend.” Gary Church will resume its 10 a.m. Sunday school hour for all ages and 11:11 a.m. worship on Sept. 8. Founded in 1853, the church has music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions.
