Elgin man sentenced for wife’s 2021 murder
An Elgin man was sentenced to 36 years in prison Friday in exchange for pleading guilty to murdering his wife nearly three years ago.
Victor H. Ayllon, 38, pleaded guilty in April to strangling his wife, Wendy Ayllon, in the couple’s home.
According to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser, police officers found a 4-year-old boy alone at the intersection of Lawrence and North Aldine avenues in Elgin on the evening of July 12, 2021.
Officers learned the boy’s address and went to the home, where they discovered a 3-year-old boy along with the body of Wendy Ayllon, the mother to both boys.
Authorities found Victor Ayllon at his parents’ home. They say the victim picked him up about 2:16 a.m. that morning, according to Mosser.
A camera inside the couple’s home captured arguing and Wendy Ayllon screaming, followed by the sound of a thud, Mosser said.
Mosser described Ayllon’s behavior as “beyond reprehensible.”
“His complete disregard for human life and parental responsibility has rightfully resulted in a significant prison sentence,” said Mosser in a prepared statement, adding that the sentence brings “some measure of justice for Wendy Ayllon and her family.”
“Our thoughts remain with the young children who have been deeply affected by this traumatic event,” said Mosser, who also thanked Elgin police for their work.
