Lisle woman injured, dog killed in Naperville crash

A Lisle woman suffered serious injuries and a dog was killed early Saturday when a car went off the road and struck a tree in Naperville, police said.

Authorities said the one-vehicle crash occurred about 3:46 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Naper Boulevard and Culpepper Drive.

Naperville police and firefighters called to the scene arrived to find a 20-year-old Lisle woman trapped inside a 2021 Kia Forte after the crash. They were able to free her from the car and take her to a hospital with what police described as “significant injuries.”

A small dog also located inside the Kia was taken to a local emergency veterinarian hospital, where it died from its injuries, police said.

Due to the nature of the crash, crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene. The roadway was closed until 8:20 a.m. during their investigation, which remained ongoing Monday, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
