School worker gets 8 years for sexually assaulting student
A former hall monitor at Tefft Middle School in Streamwood has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a student.
Magdiel Perez, 27, of the 0-100 block of Lockman Circle in Elgin, will have to serve at least 85% of the sentence before being eligible for parole.
He was found guilty on April 11 of two counts of criminal sexual assault.
Authorities alleged that between May 1, 2022, and Aug. 30, 2022, Perez assaulted the victim, who was a student at Tefft. They said Perez drove the victim to his home multiple times.
When the victim disclosed the attacks, school officials put Perez on administrative leave and contacted the state Department of Children and Family Services, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Prosecutors asked for a 16-year prison term.
Perez will have to register for life as a sexual offender.
