Bloomingdale Artists’ Association opens spring show May 25

On Saturday, May 25, the Bloomingdale Artists’ Association opens its annual spring show in gallery one of the Bloomingdale Park District Museum, 108 S. Bloomingdale Road.

Running in tandem with the annual multi-media show is a scholarship silent auction. Each year, the artists’ association raises money for a $1,000 scholarship fund. This year’s scholarship winner is St. Francis High School senior Melanie Dawson of West Chicago.

Stop by to support the association and check out the spring art show.

An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2. The show continues to June 22.

While you’re at the museum, stop by gallery two for the fotoMuses’ show “To the Letter,” which is also opening May 25

The themed show, which continues to June 22, features photography with letter forms as the main focus of the image. These may include alphabet letters, symbols, other languages, imaginary alphabets, and graffiti. It will be an artistic presentation about the letter forms, and inspire a new way to appreciate all the words we are surrounded by daily. An artist reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2.
