Schweikher House to host fundraiser June 8

The Schweikher House Preservation Trust is hosting a summer afternoon fundraiser at the Schweikher House in Schaumburg, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.

Peonies will be blooming as guests enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres from Unforgettable Edibles while mingling throughout the house and grounds. Classical guitarist, Brad Conroy, will provide the soundtrack for the afternoon.

Tickets support future programming including a popular salon and outdoor concert series, lectures and guided tours as well as the maintenance of a growing collection of Paul Schweikher artifacts and Alex and Martyl Langsdorf (subsequent owners of the home) artifacts.

The Schweikher House was conceived in 1937, and built in 1938, as Modernist architect Paul Schweikher’s home and studio. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a local Schaumburg landmark, is listed as an AIA Illinois top 200 architectural site in Illinois, is a longstanding member of Docomomo Chicago and a new member of Iconic Houses.

The fundraising event is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Tickets can be purchased at www.schweikherhouse.org/events.
