Mount Prospect Public Works Open House set for Saturday

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is hosting its annual Open House from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the public works facility, 1700 W. Central Road.

The event kicks off National Public Works Week, which takes place from May 19-25, and highlights the vital contribution public works professionals make every day to communities across the nation.

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is responsible for services including the water and sewer system, solid waste services, snow plowing, tree maintenance, streets and sidewalks.

The open house is a family-friendly event featuring prizes, a tour of the facility, rides in the department’s aerial trucks, a children’s Fun Fact Hunt and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the village’s water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets, and vehicles are maintained. Kids can meet PW Paws, the department’s mascot, and refreshments will be provided by the Mount Prospect Lions Club.
