Two women killed in dump truck crash identified

Two women killed in a crash near Wauconda Wednesday that caused a dump truck to tip over have been identified by the Lake County coroner.

Carmen Zeron, 48, of Waukegan, was identified as the driver of a Nissan sedan who was killed when that vehicle was struck by the dump truck at the intersection of Fairfield and Chardon roads at about 8 a.m.

Angelica Juarez, 55, of Round Lake Beach, was a back seat passenger in the sedan. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Autopsies determined the women died from blunt force trauma sustained in the crash.

A third woman in the sedan was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. She is expected to survive.

The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

Authorities said the crash occurred when Zeron pulled out from Chardon Road into the path of the dump truck, which was traveling north on Fairfield Road.
