Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills names scholarships winners

The Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills recently announced the winners of the clubs scholarships for high school students.

Candidates demonstrated their passion for involvement through community activities, employment and/or school activities.

These scholarships are funded through proceeds from the annual Rockin’ Rotary Ribfest held each year in July. Over the past several years, the club has awarded over $100,000 to highly motivated high school students who embody the Rotary spirit.

The club has four different categories of scholarships:

Tom Stock Memorial Scholarship: This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to one high school senior who is a member in good standing with the Rotary InterAct and demonstrates academic excellence as well as a commitment to community service. The winner is Megan Uehlein.

Service Above Self Scholarship: This $2,500 scholarship is awarded to two high school senior who successfully demonstrates academic excellence as well as a commitment to community service. The winners are: Grace Devereaux and Emily Kershner.

Making a Difference Community: This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to five high school seniors who, through their community involvement in work or school, have made a difference in our community. The five winners are: Sarah Barklow, Camryn Cook, Andrew Jauch, Zach Rogers and Ranjani Venkataraman.

For the McHenry County College Vocational Scholarship, a $2,500 donation was given to the college to administer to students entering a vocational class as the college deems necessary.

Help support next year’s scholarships by coming to the Rockin’ Rotary Ribfest July 11-14 at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road in Lake in the Hills.
