Hersey teams with Indian Grove for Cereal Box Domino Challenge
John Hersey High School's Service Over Self (S.O.S.) Club collaborated with Indian Grove Elementary School's Grover Community Service Group in a unique effort to support local food pantries.
The two schools joined forces to collect 1,000 boxes of cereal for those in need, culminating in a thrilling event that inspired students and staff members alike.
On May 1, 16 members of Hersey High School's S.O.S. Club made a special visit to Indian Grove Elementary School to kick off the Cereal Box Domino Challenge. Students lined up the 1,000 donated cereal boxes throughout the halls of Indian Grove in Mount Prospect, creating a path of dominoes. The student body gathered to witness this impressive display of teamwork and generosity, celebrating the spirit of giving back to the community.
“We are thrilled to partner with Indian Grove Elementary School for this impactful project,” said Cameron Donner, a senior and leader of Hersey High School's S.O.S. Club. “By coming together as a community, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity. This event not only raises awareness about the importance of giving back, but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion among students and residents of Hersey and Indian Grove.”
Through the generosity and dedication of students, faculty and community members, Hersey High School's S.O.S. Club and Indian Grove Elementary School's Grover Community Service Group are proud to support these local food pantries: Journeys The Road Home, Northwest Compass Inc., and Mount Prospect Village Food Pantry.
