Police: Arlington Heights man beat victim with gun
A 47-year-old Arlington Heights man is being held in the Cook County jail on accusations he struck a person in the head with a gun last month at a Glenview motel.
Dirk Hugo, of the 200 block of North Arlington Heights Road, is charged with seven felonies, including armed violence, armed habitual criminal, aggravated battery to a victim over 60 years old and aggravated unlawful use of body armor, Glenview police said.
The charges stem from an investigation Glenview police began shortly before 10 p.m. April 14, when officers were called to a motel on the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue for a reported battery.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released, police said.
According to police, detectives identified Hugo as a suspect and arrested him May 1 outside his home. While being taken into custody, Hugo was found with a stolen firearm, body armor and cocaine, authorities said.
Glenview police said the attack was a targeted isolated event and there is no known threat to the public.
Hugo is scheduled to appear in court May 23, at the Cook County courthouse in Skokie, jail records show.
