DuPage Chorale to present ‘Night at the Opera’ May 5

On Sunday, May 5, the DuPage Chorale presents “Night at the Opera,” an evening of opera chorus and aria favorites, at the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Belushi Performance Hall on the College of DuPage campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The 75-member chorale, performing under the direction of Patrick O’Shea, will be accompanied by soloists Desirée Hassler, soprano; Karen Archbold, mezzo-soprano; John Concepcion, tenor; and Michael Cavalieri, baritone.

The program features a varied selection, including “Anvil Chorus” from Verdi’s “Il Trovatore,” “When I Am Laid in Earth,” the closing aria from Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas,” the iconic “Habanera” from Bizet’s “Carmen,” along with selections from Gilbert and Sullivan.
