STEAM Fair: Pathways to the Future of Work coming to Harper College on April 27

The upcoming STEAM Fair: Pathways to the Future of Work event promises an action-packed day with something for everyone in the family.

Join the fun and explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) during a free event 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.

The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented organized the STEAM Fair in partnership with Microsoft, Quest 4 Excellence, Harper and many experts and volunteers. Admission is free thanks to an award from the Microsoft Community Empowerment Fund.

STEAM Fair highlights include:

• Hands-on exploration: Participate in interactive stations and immersive workshops with STEAM experts. This includes Quest 4 Excellence, which partners with NASA and Space Tango, and will lead workshops on CyberQuest, RoboQuest and SpaceQuest (space is limited).

• Innovative technology: Get a firsthand look at the latest in Generative AI, including ChatGPT and CoPilot, and witness thrilling robot combat competitions.=

• Artistic and creative pursuits: Explore your artistic side with activities ranging from Build-a-Blinkie and Lego building stations to innovative crafts involving paper circuits.

Kicking off the event will be a 9 a.m. keynote presentation and panel discussion about STEAM career stories. Attendees can also enjoy K-Pop performers the SuperNovas Dance Group as well as displays merging art and science.
