Route 60 bridge work begins Monday
The Route 60 (Townline Road) bridge over the Des Plaines River east of Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills and Mettawa will be reduced from two to one lane in both directions beginning Monday, weather permitting.
Motorists also should expect various lane shifts on both sides of Route 60 approaching the bridge, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The project involves repairing the bridge deck and approaches, replacing expansion joints and installing a new deck overlay. The work is expected to be completed in August. Delays are expected and alternate routes are encouraged.
