Photo contest winners for February 2024
The Daily Herald’s amateur photo contest winners for February 2024 bring just a little pop of color after the dreary gray of winter.
Our winner of the month is Bob Stadlman of Mundelein for a picture taken last year of Mundelein’s very first fire truck, a 1925 Stoughton fire engine that was given to the village in 1925 by Cardinal George Mundelein. Stadlman says, “I like the simplicity of this picture on a hot summer’s day, overlooking Diamond Lake with Old Number One’s mascot Sparky seated peacefully in the truck enjoying the day.”
Second place goes to Tom Knutson of West Chicago who captured just the right moment of a brown bear cub jumping on rocks across Brooks River in Alaska.
Ken Simpson of Arlington Heights took third place with his sweet photo of his four granddaughters, dressed in matching pajamas, watching the birds at the feeder outside.
Kathie Kapustka of Aurora took fourth place with this photo capturing the remaining bits of fall color in the snowy landscape of Starved Rock.
The Daily Herald invites readers to submit their own photos to our Your Images amateur photo contest.
