Join Neighborhood Food Pantries’ annual Shopping Cart Shuffle 5K June 22

More than 60,000 people in DuPage County don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Neighborhood Food Pantries, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, has six pantries located throughout DuPage County, which serves our hungry neighbors in DuPage, Kane, and Cook counties. In February, they served more than 6,000 people, and the number of food pantry clients continues to climb upward at a high pace.

You can make a difference for these local families by participating in the annual “Shopping Cart Shuffle: Let’s Run Hunger Out of Town!” on Saturday, June 22, at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve.

Join this chip-timed, family-friendly 5K walk or run, plus a 100-yard Kids' Dash to help feed these hungry neighbors. To register, go to raceroster.com/events/2024/85389/shopping-cart-shuffle.

Founded in 1999, Neighborhood Food Pantries has provided food security to neighbors in need for over two decades. Funds raised from this 5K event will be used to continue providing healthy food to the growing number of families and individuals visiting the pantries each week.

T-shirts and race packet must be picked up at Dick Pond Athletics, 26W515 St. Charles Road in Carol Stream. No packets will be mailed.

The race will start and finish at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, Schick Road and Mallard Lane in Hanover Park. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m.

Kids, age 10 or under, run for free in the 100-Yard Kids' Dash, starting at 8:15 a.m. The 5K Walk/Run will start at 8:30 a.m.

Medals will be awarded to top performers and top fundraisers.

Race entry includes: a Neighborhood Food Pantries 5K T-shirt, a bib, and a post race snack.

Cost for the 5K is $35 through May 29 or $40 after. Participants must be registered by June 1 to be guaranteed size/shirt.

Sign up your family of four or more and receive a discount; registration must take place at same time for all members of the family. A $5 discount will apply to each registrant upon completion of registration.

Register as a team and recruit your friends, colleagues and family members to join you!

In addition to supporting Neighborhood Food Pantries with your registration, consider making a personal donation, or become a fundraiser to support the mission.

Create and customize your fundraising page with your personal goal and a progress meter! Build your page and send the link to your friends, family and co-workers. Promote your page on Facebook and other social media sites. Become a team captain at your church, business, or club. For a business, it's a great team building activity. The top three individual fundraisers and the top three fundraising teams will be recognized at the event.
