Lake in the Hills recognizes 2023 Gordon Larsen award winners

Lake in the Hills recently announced the winners of the 2023 Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Awards.

Elected officials and village staff honored the winning businesses at the March 14 village board meeting. The winners also will be recognized in village publications, social media campaigns and other outlets throughout the year.

The village recognizes businesses that embody the philanthropic and entrepreneurial spirit of Gordon Larsen, who was influential in shaping the physical and civic landscape of Lake in the Hills.

Gordon Larsen believed in charitable businesses whose success was attributable to exemplary service to employees, customers and the community.

There were a total 51 nominations. The awardees are:

• Best Customer Service — Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning of Northern Illinois, established in 2021 by business owners Kyle and Danielle Cullnan. It specializes in low-moisture carpet cleaning and provides full-service carpet, rug, upholstery and floor cleaning. This mobile company offers cleaning services that are green-certified, eco-friendly and safe for people, pets and the environment. • President’s Pick — Butcher on the Block, 4660 W. Algonquin Road, established in 2000 by business owners Tom and Jill Yucuis. The well-known and highly recommended gourmet meat and deli market has received a Gordon Larsen Award three times since 2004. This year, nominations highlighted the sincerity and attentiveness of the owners and staff, the high-quality products, and the small-town feel created by the friendly, personable service.

“Butcher on the Block is not just a business; it’s a beloved institution that has become synonymous with gourmet meat and deli excellence in Lake in the Hills,” Village President Ray Bogdanowski said. “I am proud to nominate Butcher on the Block for this well-deserved recognition, and I encourage our community to join me in celebrating this outstanding establishment.”
