Man pleads guilty to DUI that killed 3 in Lisle crash

A Naperville man was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison for a drunk-driving crash that killed three people.

Brendan Wydajewski, 24, of the 500 block of Big Horn Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated DUI causing death.

Around 1:18 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2021, there was a crash at Warrenville Road and Corporate West Drive in Lisle. There were two vehicles, one of which was cut in half, with one half left on the road and the other off the road. The driver of that vehicle, Andrew Purtill, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in Wydajewski’s car, Gracela Leanos, 21, and Geovanny Alvarez, were also killed.

An investigation determined that Wydajewski was driving about 122 mph west on Warrenville Road when he hit Purtill’s vehicle.

Wydajewski had a blood alcohol content of .147.

He will have to serve at least 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
