Glenview artist hosts sixth solo exhibition to promote ability and inclusion

Emmett Kyoshi Wilson to represent the Down syndrome community in unique solo art exhibition at Glenview Public Library from March 21-May 15.

Emmett Kyoshi Wilson of Glenview will host his sixth solo art exhibition in his hometown of Glenview at the Glenview Public Library from March 21-May 15, kicking off on World Down Syndrome Day (March 21).

The art exhibition called “VisAbility Exhibition” promotes inclusion, ability and Emmett’s mission to represent people with unique abilities through his artwork.

The “Visability Exhibition” will feature works by Emmett Kyoshi from 2014-2024, showcasing new, never-before-seen pieces not available for purchase.

At the tailend of the exhibition, there will be a celebration of Emmett Kyoshi’s Milestones, to include his 19th birthday on May 9 from 5:30-7 p.m., open to the public. There will be a live musical performance with Matt Ulery Jazz Trio and Emmett Kyoshi Art Merchandise available to purchase with proceeds benefiting the Glenview Library and the Northfield Food Pantry. A signed limited edition framed print will be raffled to top off the evening.

Emmett Kyoshi Wilson, an 18-year-old artist and inclusion pioneer, is a vibrant force advocating for individuals with unique abilities through his art. Based in Chicago and proud to have Down syndrome, Emmett has already achieved significant milestones with over 150 abstract canvases to his name, five gallery exhibitions within the last five years, including the honor of painting the American Flag for the American Embassy in Croatia and more.

Over the years, Emmett has successfully raised more than $125,000 through the auction of his art pieces, benefiting prominent charitable organizations such as the National Association for Down Syndrome, The Jackson Chance Foundation and The Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Emmett's art, celebrated internationally, is available for purchase as original works or signed giclée and canvas prints. His passion for redefining the art landscape for artists with unique abilities is exemplified through his collaborations with industry figures like Matthew Hoffman, the visionary creator behind the renowned "You are Beautiful" project, Disney, Adobe and Yahoo.

Emmett's artistic mission revolves around spreading messages of inclusion and ability, encapsulated in the timeless words of Dr. Seuss: "Why fit in when we are born to stand out."
