Man arrested after road rage incident ending at Wauconda school

A man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct following a road rage incident that ended in the parking lot of Wauconda Middle School.

The Wauconda Police Department is reviewing additional video footage with possible additional charges pending, according to Sgt. Chris Gallivan.

The incident began at Brown Street and Slocum Lake Road around 3 p.m. Thursday.

There were reports the suspect was armed with a gun but further investigation revealed he was mimicking the shape of a gun with his fingers, according to Gallivan.

The victim and suspect had a confrontation that ended in the middle school parking lot although the school was not involved. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after, police said.

The incident delayed school dismissal by about 20 minutes but there was no lockdown.
