Free Chair Bound Exercise Class and Fall Risk Seminar at TFI in Vernon Hills

TFI Physical Therapy and Sports Performance, 701 N. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, will host a Chair Bound Exercise Class and Fall Risk Seminar from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19. The class will be free and open to the public. To sign up, email brian@thefitinstitutechicago.com.

Led by TFI co-owners Isaac Lai, PT, DPT, and Luigi Degirolamo, CPT, the class will start with a seminar in which participants will learn about the deterioration of balance and risks of falling that accompany the aging process. They will also touch how this affects mental positivity and one’s sense of independence.

“Our goal with the seminar is to help our senior and elderly communities to improve their independence and lifestyle. Simple, short and easy exercises done daily can help improve balance while simultaneously reducing the risk of falling and increasing mental positivity,” Lai said.

Following the seminar, Lai and Degirolamo will teach the class simple and safe exercises performed in a chair that they can practice at home. Participants will be taught exercises that promote improvement in range of motion and flexibility and strength of the spine, shoulder and legs. The exercises will be designed to be easily replicated at home and everyone will receive a printout of the exercises covered in class.
