Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District honors Orangetheory coach and members for lifesaving efforts

The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District honored Orangetheory fitness coach Tony Konidaris, and two Orangetheory members with a commendation award after they administered CPR on a fellow member whose heart had stopped after experiencing a cardiac event during a fitness class last year.

The fire department said that these 13 minutes of CPR played a major part in saving this man’s life.

“The swift and courageous actions of these citizens contributed to a positive medical emergency outcome,” said Jimmy Lahanis, fire chief. “We thank these individuals for the bravery, initiative and actions taken to help another in a time of need.”

The award was presented during the Darien-Woodridge’s Fire Protection District’s annual awards ceremony that was held on Saturday, March 2.
