Glen Ellyn native dancer returns to Chicago with internationally renowned MOMIX

Glen Ellyn native Hailey Green has been dancing since the age of nine. Performing primarily with the competition team at the Soleunique Dance Complex in Aurora in her youth, Green also studied with the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago youth division and took classes at the Joffrey Ballet School.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance, Green moved to New York where she auditioned for and won a spot dancing with the internationally renowned dance company MOMIX.

On Saturday, March 9, Green returns to Chicago to perform with MOMIX at the Auditorium Theatre in “ALICE.”

“I’m very excited to be performing at the Auditorium Theatre,” Green said. “Growing up, I saw Alvin Ailey perform there, so it will be a special full circle moment for me.”

Known for presenting works of astounding inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is an internationally performing company of dancer-illusionists founded by Moses Pendleton.

Making its long-awaited return to the Auditorium Theatre for the first time since 1997, MOMIX will dazzle Chicago audiences once again, this time with a trip down the rabbit hole for “ALICE,” a show inspired by “Alice in Wonderland” with a signature MOMIX twist.

“ALICE” reintroduces classic characters including the white rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts in imaginative and surprising ways, pushing the boundaries of what a MOMIX production can be by fusing the signature MOMIX movement style and theatricality with cutting edge technical elements in lighting, music, costumes, and projected imagery. As Alice’s body grows and shrinks and grows again, Pendleton’s dancers extend themselves by means of props, ropes and other dancers creating a family-friendly journey that is as magical and fun as it is beautiful and mysterious.

See Hailey Green and the rest of the MOMIX company in “ALICE” Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorium Theatre.

Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased at auditoriumtheatre.org. This production is recommended for audiences age 6 and up.
