Schaumburg welcomes new director of Transportation
The village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce Sidney Kenyon has been selected as the next director of Transportation.
Kenyon is a transportation and planning professional who demonstrates a wide range of competencies with key strengths in areas of transit and bike/pedestrian programs.
Kenyon previously served as senior transportation planner for the DuPage County Division of Transportation since 2016. In his role there, he led projects for the East Branch DuPage River Trail, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan and the DuPage Trails Plan. He also supported staff to implement the DuPage County Mobility Plan, the DuDOT Transportation Improvement Program, and the Long Range Transportation Plan. Kenyon also served as the DuPage County Trails coordinator, overseeing 82 miles of regional trail planning and programming, was responsible for managing geographic information system assets and obtained grants to fund project development.
“As a person who is passionate about transportation and planning, I am excited to begin this new role with the village of Schaumburg,” Kenyon said. “My years of working in county transportation have prepared me to lead Schaumburg’s multifaceted transportation programs, and I look forward to advancing what is already a great foundation of initiatives.”
Kenyon will be responsible for managing the village’s transportation programs and services, including the design of village roadways, the Schaumburg Regional Airport and Helistop, traffic signal systems, transit initiatives and bikeways programs.
Prior to working in DuPage County, Kenyon worked at the McHenry County Division of Transportation where he managed the MCRide paratransit service, planned Pace Suburban Bus services for the county, and conducted feasibility studies for various transportation projects.

I look forward to working with him to continue to enhance the village’s transportation programs and initiatives for residents and businesses.”
Kenyon holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in geography and political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Kenyon is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Kenyon’s first day with the village was Feb. 20.
