Schaumburg A.M. Rotary to host ‘Souper Bowl of Soups’ on Leap Day 2024

The Schaumburg A.M. Rotary Club Foundation, a nonprofit community service organization, will host its “Souper Bowl of Soups Cook-Off” soup tasting fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 29, at Chandler’s, 401 N. Roselle Road, in Schaumburg.

This is a friendly competition that, for the first time, features two divisions: A restaurant division and a high school division made up of five schools from District 211. Each respective division will be vying for the title of 2024 Souper Bowl of Soups Cook-Off Champion.

The competition features many types of soup from traditional classics to soups representing various cultures and ethnic flavors. Participants will sample soups and vote for their favorites in each division. Division winners will be named at the end of the event. Previous Soup Cook-Off Champions include PhoDay Vietnamese Eatery in 2022 and Seafeast Sushi in 2023, both located in Schaumburg.

New this year is the District 211 interschool division competition featuring soups prepared by students from Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg high schools, who are enrolled in the district’s Culinary Pathway Program.

Restaurants submitting soup for tasting include Bar Down Sports Grill, Bella Napoli, Chandler’s, the Great Room at Schaumburg Marriott, Mezé Mediterráno, Moretti’s, Naatu Indian Restaurant & Bar, Palooza Pizza, PhoDay Vietnamese Eatery, Seafeast Sushi, Sweet Orange Pancake House & Café and Uncle Bill’s Diner and more.

The Souper Bowl of Soups Cook-Off proceeds will address neighborhood hunger by supporting the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and the School District 54 Education Foundation’s Food 4 Thought breakfast program, in addition to other areas of community need as determined by the Schaumburg A.M. Rotary.

Event sponsors include Ala Carte Entertainment restaurants Bella Napoli, Chandler’s and Moretti’s, the Schaumburg office of Baird & Warner, Corporate Sign Systems Inc. in Roselle, DripTherapy in Bartlett, Oak St. Health in Streamwood and Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg Bank & Trust, and Vito & Dollenmaier Law in Rolling Meadows.

The fundraiser also features a 50/50 cash raffle in addition to a variety of door prize gift cards and a cash bar.

Tickets are $20 in advance / $25 at the door for adults (ages 18 and older), $10 for children (ages 6-17). There is no charge for children, ages 5 and younger. Walk-ins are welcome.
