Village Theatre Guild to hold auditions for ‘The Sweet Delilah Swim Club’

The Village Theatre Guild is wrapping up its 60th anniversary season with the comedy “The Sweet Delilah Swim Club” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.

The play will be performed on weekends from May 17 to June 8.

Auditions for the five female roles will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, and Tuesday, March 19, at the Village Theatre Guild, Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn.

The play covers the friendship of five women who were on their college swim team. Every year they set aside husbands, kids, and jobs and reunite at a charming North Carolina beach house to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives.

This is an open audition for a non-equity, non-pay production. Actors will be playing their characters over a period of 33 years (from the ages of mid 40s to 70s.)

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides are posted on the theater website, villagetheatreguild.com/auditions-for-sdsc-by-jones-hope-wooten/.
