Ooh, baby! Cast of GreenMan Theatre’s ‘Murder on the DeLorean Express’ mystery expands by one
“Is it a girl, or a boy?” That’s one of the surprising questions theatergoers will be asking as they time travel through GreenMan Theatre’s murder mystery dinner, “Murder on the DeLorean Express,” opening Feb. 23.
In “Murder on the DeLorean Express,” Doc Green and Murty have been friends across time. But when Murty’s marriage is ending, Doc Green realizes he’s to blame, and he must travel back in time to Murty’s wedding to sever his friendship with Murty forever. But changing the past results in … murder! Can Doc Green rescue Murty’s marriage? If he does, will Murty lose his best friend forever?
The parody’s pregnant surprise will occur because actor Cayley D’Anna, who will play Young Jen, will be more than seven months pregnant as she takes the stage. Why audition during her pregnancy?
“I just enjoy doing these shows so much and I’ve worked with Justin Vidovic (the play’s writer and director) many times,” she said. “Besides, this might be the last show I’ll be able to do for a bit!”
In her first pregnancy, D’Anna’s baby is due on Mother’s Day.
To accommodate D’Anna’s pregnancy, Vidovic rewrote the storyline for her character.
“As the play progresses, we get to meet Young Jen’s baby 30 years in the future and see how she turns out,” Vidovic said. (In real life, D’Anna is having a boy.)
“Murder on the DeLorean Express” will showcase the talents of Kelly Belmont (Oak Park) as Lucy; John Benischek (Des Plaines) as Old Doc; Charles Brailovsky (Chicago) as Young Murty; Elliot Brtva (Schaumburg) as Kenny; Cayley D'Anna (Mount Zion) as Young Jen; Gwynneth Davidoff (Western Springs) as Griff; Zack Flax (Northlake) of Young Doc; Kevin Hathaway (Park Forest) as Uncle Joe; Tom Kaiser (Elmhurst) George-understudy; Sann Knipple (Mount Prospect) as Old Jen and Peggy-understudy; Heather Meyer (Northlake) as Old Jen; Doug Peterson (Elmhurst) as Huey; Mary-Carol Riehs (Elmhurst) as Peggy; Katie Soria (Elmhurst) as Lorry; Julia Thompson (Naperville) as Young Jen, Lucy, Katrina, and Martina-Understudy; Kate Troc (Lombard) as Katrina; and Brian T.
