Firefighters extinguish aggressive brush fire in Lakemoor before it spread to buildings
Firefighters using a specially equipped ATV with a water pump battled a large brush fire in Lakemoor Thursday afternoon that threatened multiple nearby buildings.
Firefighters from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District were called at 4:08 p.m. to the 600 block of Arbor Circle for a report of a field fire.
It took about one hour to fully extinguish the fire using hand tools, backpack-style fire extinguishers and the specialized ATV. Around 20 acres of land were burned but no nearby structures were damaged.
The fire’s cause is unknown and no injuries were reported. Firefighters from Nunda Rural Fire Protection District, Spring Grove and Woodstock assisted.
