Man charged after ‘traffic altercation’ ends with one man shot, another stabbed

A man is facing criminal charges in connection with an altercation that left him shot and another person stabbed on Randall Road in Elgin.

Sattar Alfayadi, 52, of the 1500 block of Jill Court in Glendale Heights, has been charged with unlawful vehicular invasion and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

In addition, he has been charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass to a vehicle.

Police said the “traffic altercation” happened on the afternoon of Jan. 23.

Elgin police responded to Sherman Hospital for the report of a man with a stab wound. It was a non-life-threatening injury, according to police.

Police said the altercation took place near Randall Road and Fox Lane. They found Alfayadi there with a gunshot wound.

The charges were filed on Sunday, and Alfayadi turned himself in on Wednesday.

He was released on Thursday by a Kane County judge.

Police did not say how Alfayadi was shot or give any details about what led to the event.
