Film society to show film noir classic ‘Key Largo’ Feb. 7

Celebrating its second school year and gaining in popularity, Lake Park High School's Film Appreciation Society aims to engage the community in the presentation, exploration, interpretation, and critical discussion of classic cinema.

Join the Lancer community for the next screening at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the West Campus auditorium, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Roselle. Admission is free.

The featured film is the 1948 film noir thriller, “Key Largo,“ directed by John Huston and starring the famed screen duo of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, with Edward G. Robinson in an iconic gangster role. Claire Trevor won the 1948 Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her film role.

The film’s run time is 1 hour, 40 minutes.

Community film buffs of any age are invited to attend this free cinematic presentation and stay for an in-depth panel discussion regarding the background and history of the featured film.

Patrons also will be able to cast their votes for future film selections including the Wednesday, March 20 screening.
