Cartoon favorites come to life with ‘Animaniacs: In Concert’ at Schaumburg Prairie Center Feb. 2

Mayhem, music and hilarity from the ‘90s come back to life when “Animaniacs: In Concert” comes to the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts Friday, Feb. 2, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“Animaniacs: In Concert” features the voices of “Animaniacs” — the iconic animated Warner Bros series (produced by Steven Spielberg) — for a self-described “zany, animany and totally insaney” evening as they perform world-famous songs from the beloved cartoon series backed by the original projected animation.

The performance stars the show’s original Emmy-winning composer, Randy Rogel, on piano and the voice-talents of Emmy-winner Rob Paulsen (Yakko & Pinky on “Animaniacs” and Raphael on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and Maurice LaMarche (The Brain on “Animaniacs,” The King in Disney’s “Frozen” and Kif & Calculon on “Futurama”).

“Animaniacs” remains as topical and relevant today as it was when the TV series debuted in the early 1990s. With new episodes currently streaming on HULU, Animaniacs is a multi-generational animated favorite with universally recognized hit songs. And like the cartoon on which it is based, “Animaniacs: In Concert” aims to appeal to all ages through sly one-liners and not-so-sly silly banter and lyrics.

Tickets for “Animaniacs: In Concert,” are $46; $44 for students and seniors, and can be ordered at prairiecenter.org or by calling (847) 895-3600.

The Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts is at 201 Schaumburg Court, in Schaumburg.

“Animaniacs: In Concert” is part of the Prairie Center’s 2023-24 season of Arts and Entertainment presented by the village of Schaumburg.
