Expansion and showroom renovation begins at Abt Electronics in Glenview

PREMIER Design + Build Group has begun work on a major showroom renovation and expansion project at Abt Electronics in Glenview.

Abt Electronics is the largest independently owned, single-site retailer of electronics, appliances, and home goods in the country. Its Glenview showroom space spans 114,000 square feet. The company employs more than 1,700 people.

PREMIER will renovate and expand the retailer’s second floor showroom. The project includes selective demolition, new foundations, and structural steel work.

PREMIER’s team will add 41,316 square feet of space including an elevator and restroom facilities. Abt Electronics’ retail location features its own mini-mall filled with custom, high-end boutique shops, an interior fountain, and a 7,500-gallon saltwater aquarium.

Abt is known for its eco-friendly sustainability practices. The company’s award-winning green program includes a rooftop solar array, an irrigation system that uses renewable rainwater, and an on-site recycling center that allows the company to recycle more than 95% of its own waste.

Abt’s retail location will remain open throughout the renovation and expansion work. Cornerstone Architects, Ltd., will provide architectural design services for the project, which is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2024.
