Join the paw-ty as the Great American Dog Show returns to Schaumburg this weekend

Dog lovers united Friday as the Great American Dog Show was unleashed upon the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.

Jamie Mazursky, who handles public relations for the show, says she expects about 20,000 visitors from around the world and the U.S. this weekend.

The show runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday. General admission and VIP tickets can be purchased online at https://greatamericandogshow.com/.

The first dog show in America was held in Chicago in 1883. It drew 21 dogs, all pointers and setters. The Chicago Kennel Club was founded in 1900.
