St. Emily School invests $120k in school enhancements
St. Emily School has invested more than $120K in school enhancements over the past year. Grants and the generosity of parents and donors has made this possible.
Three of the most notable changes are the enhanced STEM Lab for pre-kindergarten through third grade students; the updated Science Lab for sixth through eighth grade students; and the new Collab Lab for fourth through eighth grade students.
The Collab Lab features a high-top table and chairs, comfortable low chairs and tables that allow the students to collaborate with other students and teachers on projects in a relaxed setting. The STEM Lab features a large interactive white board, adjustable tables, flexible seating, manipulatives, and STEM kits.
“We use the room to introduce STEM topics and challenges to children through hands-on learning. These activities use communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills. Each grade level utilizes the room in diverse ways based on their curriculum,” said Nancy Slivka, second grade teacher.
Check out these enhancements and everything else St. Emily School has to offer at its annual Catholic Schools Week Open House from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28. St. Emily School is at 1400 Central Road, in Mount Prospect.
