Mount Prospect chooses next community development director

Mount Prospect has found a replacement for Community Development Director Bill Cooney, who is retiring in April after 30 years in the post.

Jason Shallcross, Algonquin’s community development director since 2021, will join the village as deputy director of community development on Jan. 29, Village Manager Michael Cassady said. Then when Cooney retires, Shallcross will take over the department.

Shallcross returns to the village where he served as development review planner and senior planner.

“He did a wonderful job for us,” Cassady said. “He has got a great background in economic development. He is certified through a national association. He demonstrated great talents here in Mount Prospect and I have seen him achieve great things in the village of Algonquin. He will be a wonderful asset for our leadership team and our community.”
