Lakemoor woman out in first round of World Poker championship

Stacey Breslin of Lakemoor competed for the second straight year at the World Poker Tour Championship held Dec. 12-21 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Among 3,835 players who entered the championship, Breslin was eliminated in the first round.

An amateur playing against professionals, 53-year-old Breslin won her free seat to the $10,400 buy-in tournament by defeating 1,500 other players on the World Poker Tour application. She used the same method to gain entry into the 2022 tournament.

Breslin, who has five children and six grandchildren and has worked in education for 32 years, plays in two poker leagues and also works on the side as a card dealer. She learned poker from her grandmother.
