Unrelated medical issue delays charges against Schaumburg shooting suspect

The suspect in custody for a shooting in Schaumburg early Wednesday isn’t expected to be charged immediately due to an unrelated medical issue, police said Thursday.

A person possibly known by the suspect reported having been shot at in a commercial area on the 1200 block of East Higgins Road at about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. That person was not injured.

A search for the suspect was concentrated about an hour later near the Bar Harbour condominiums in the area of Meacham Road south of Schaumburg Road.

Schaumburg police reported the man to be in custody at 9:18 a.m., later adding that their investigation had also recovered a handgun and shell casings.
