Dr. Lori Lightfoot installed as Chicago Dental Society's Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch director

A general dentist with more than 30 years of experience, Lori Lightfoot, of Dolton, Illinois, was installed as Chicago Dental Society's Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch director on Nov. 12. Dr. Lightfoot is an active member of CDS and has previously served as Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch president and branch correspondent.

As Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch Director, Dr. Lightfoot will help govern the Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch members, drive engagement, recruit new CDS members, and help with preparations for the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 22 - 24, 2024. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today's leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

Dr. Lightfoot holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Health Sciences at the Chicago Medical School and earned her dental degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. In addition to her involvement with CDS, Dr. Lightfoot is an active member of the Illinois State Dental Society, the American Dental Society, and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Dr. Lightfoot previously held teaching positions at the University of Chicago as a faculty staff member and at Trinity International University as a professor. After 10 years in private practice and 24 years of public health dentistry at the Cook County Health, Dr. Lightfoot has recently retired. Dr. Lightfoot has been married to Michael W. Tucker for 28 years. She has two children, Hapi Danielle and Robert Nathan, and one grandson, Marcell Ahmad. Outside of dentistry, she loves to travel and visit museums and she enjoys live theatre, movies, swimming, and reading.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
