Two suffer minor injuries in late night South Barrington house fire

Two people suffered minor injuries in a house fire late Sunday in South Barrington that authorities say began in the attached garage.

The injured residents of the home were treated at the scene and released, fire officials said.

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home on the 0-100 block of Liberty Drive just after 9 p.m.

The home's three-car garage was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. A car in the driveway had also caught fire, officials said.

It took nearly an hour to bring the fire under control. Firefighters remained on scene until about midnight to check for hot spots and perform salvage operations, according to the fire district.

The interior of the home suffered minor damage, fire officials said. It was deemed inhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimate was immediately available.
