Suburban Skyview: Woodfield Mall parking lot completely full on Black Friday

Black Friday was hectic inside the packed interior of Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, and outside nearly every one of the 10,000 parking spots was taken by midafternoon.

In the aerial view, drivers can be seen attempting to navigate their vehicles along the outer drive along the full parking lot near Nordstrom. Though car horns sounded frequently, everyone managed to pass through without incident.

While many malls throughout the area seem to be struggling and are trying to reinvent themselves, Woodfield seems to be the exception. On YouTube, there are numerous channels dedicated to documenting the rise and fall of malls across the U.S.

Woodfield was packed on Black Friday. There were lines outside several stores, new stores such as Radio Flyer have opened, and the relatively new food court was well-patronized.

Considering how retailers have been challenged by online shopping in recent years, what might seem like borderline chaos can be viewed as a positive for the area's economy.
