Dr. David Lewis Installed as 2024 President of the Chicago Dental Society
November 29, 2023 (CHICAGO) - With more than three decades of experience practicing general dentistry, David Lewis Jr., D.D.S., of Glenview, Illinois, was sworn in as 2024 President of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) on November 12. Dr. Lewis previously served as Director and President of the CDS North Suburban Branch.
As President, Dr. Lewis will lead planning efforts and preparation for the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 22 - 24, 2024. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today's leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.
Dr. Lewis obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, and completed his Dental General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry and Special Patient Care at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. In addition to his many leadership roles with CDS, he has served as a member and Delegate for both the American Dental Association and Illinois State Dental Society and is also a member of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Lewis was also an Instructor in the Department of Comprehensive Oral Health Care at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and an Attending Clinician at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center Department of Dentistry, serving the Homebound Program and the Special Patient Care Program. Dr. Lewis has also held positions throughout his tenure as a member with the Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise, including Charter Member, Membership Services, Club Services Director, Program Chair, and President.
Dr. Lewis lives in Glenview, Illinois, with his wife, Dr. Christine Culp, who is a retired general dentist and CDS member. The couple has two grown daughters, Anne and Kathleen. After 36 years of practicing, Dr. Lewis retired from clinical practice in July 2020. He now focuses on how best to serve CDS. In his free time, Dr. Lewis enjoys reading, traveling with family, and biking.
Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
