Northwest Community's new outpatient medical center opens in Schaumburg

Northwest Community Healthcare this week opened its new outpatient care center in Schaumburg, consolidating the services of two former 40-year-old buildings.

The three-story, 61,026-square-foot medical office building at 519 S. Roselle Road is on the site of the hospital system's former immediate care center and professional building. The opening comes a little more than a year after zoning approvals were granted by the village.

The new building - constructed by Leopardo and designed by architect Jensen & Halstead - expands the offering of cardiac services, breast imaging, physical therapy and ultrasound capacity, according to Dr. Sue Nelson, the Arlington Heights-based health care system's executive vice president for physician operations.

"The new facility will offer multiple outpatient services, walk-in and scheduled, physician and hospital, to serve the majority of patients' outpatient care needs, all in a single location close to home or work," Nelson said in an announcement.

Monday marked the opening of the first floor, which is home to the Immediate Care Center for patients of all ages who need to see a doctor right away but do not have a life-threatening condition that would warrant a visit to the emergency room, officials said.

Among the conditions treated: asthma, broken bones/fractures, burns, cold/cough/congestion, COVID-19, diarrhea, eye injuries, headaches, pink eye, skin issues, sprains/strains, cuts and lacerations, symptomatic STDs and urinary tract infections.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Also opening this week was occupational health, physical therapy, lab and diagnostic imaging and testing services, including X-ray, breast imaging, ultrasound, DEXA scan, open MRI, CT and 2D echocardiogram.

Six primary care physicians also will start seeing patients there.

A phase two opening, scheduled for March, will include other medical group physicians moving to the second floor. The third floor will be dedicated to specialty care, including endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology and podiatry.

WomanCare at NCH, a group of OB/GYN physicians, is scheduled to move to the new location later in 2024.
