Immanuel Palatine hosts annual Community Trunk-or-Treat

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Palatine hosted its annual Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 29. The event, usually held in the parking lot, was moved to the gymnasium, as early weather forecasts predicted rain throughout the afternoon.

While the rain held off until the end of the event, many volunteers were glad to be inside, as temperatures lingered around 45 degrees. Tables were set up and decorated as the alternative for trunks.

It was estimated that over 400 guests were in attendance to collect candy, enjoy free popcorn, and play BINGO. All candy was donated by school families and church members, and a wide variety of donations were collected for BINGO prizes - from gift cards, to toys, to fresh-baked goods. Free hot chocolate was provided by American Heritage Girls and Trail Life Boys.

Immanuel will host a variety of events during the upcoming holiday season, including a community meal, a school open house, a cookie walk, and a Christmas musical - all free and open to the community.

For over 150 years, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School has been making disciples in the Palatine community through the LCMS church and Christian school for Early Childhood through Grade 8.
