Satisfy your sweet tooth with Wego Drama's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues its 2023-24 theatrical season with the classic story of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

This spectacle is based on the novel by Roald Dahl, adapted by Richard George.

It tells the story of Charlie Bucket as he journeys to visit the famed Wonka Chocolate Factory. Along the way, Charlie meets wonderful characters like Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Mike Teevee, and Willy Wonka. This production is filled with silly fun.

The Wego Drama season theme of "Once More With Feeling" is perfect for this show; whether you've read the book, seen the movie, or are brand new to the story. You are guaranteed to laugh on this family-friendly evening.

Senior Alex Bradley said, "I love the show. It is just nonstop silliness," and senior Ryley Salazar added, "I've found myself just feeling like a little kid again."

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4, at the high school, 326 Joliet St.

Tickets are $8 or $5 for students. General admission tickets are on sale at www.wegotheatre.com. Tickets also will be available at the door.

It will feature a special performance by the A Capella Chamber Choir under the direction of Brandon Fantozzi.

The company of actors and crew for the show includes: from Carol Stream: Abigail Ballard, Ethan Godwin, Owen Thompson, and William Wenberg; from West Chicago: Mariana Acosta, Stephanie Alfaro, Noemi Amaro, Antwan Angeles, Michael Angeles, Issac Argomaniz, Vanessa Arias, Jacob Benitez, Lilyana Bonilla, Alex Bradley, Sage Brady, Lucas Brown, Kylie Carter, Wil Cooper, Pamela Cruz, Danais Gomez-Garcia, Annaliesa Herbst, Nirali Kadakia, Kayliana Koeune, Matthew Krysinski, Karidja Monjolo, Chris Nunez, Elisa O'Brien, Dayanna Paramo, Baron Plumlee, Ryley Salazar, Nancy Sanchez, Josephina Abdalla Tutu, Ja'Nyah Villa, and Dayan Zenteno; from Wheaton: Tyler Benton; and from Winfield: Ryan Blackburn, Bo Dragosh, Olivia Ebelt, Caiden McDougall, Francis Moffatt, and Mariah Varnado.

The play is directed by Mark Begovich with technical direction by Christopher Jensen. Costumes are by Kim Maslo with hair and makeup by Sam Rebmann. It is produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing, Woodstock, IL.

The production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is performed without an intermission, and includes lighting effects and cartoon antics.

Senior Francis Moffatt said, "This play is a large undertaking. I know everyone is going to just have a joyful evening at this show."
