CLC hosts engineering night Nov. 2

Join College of Lake County (CLC) for an engaging night to learn about engineering and computer science. The free event on Nov. 2 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Willow Café on Grayslake Campus is open to high school and CLC students and their parents.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., students can meet with representatives from Illinois universities to ask one-on-one questions. At 7 p.m., CLC engineering instructors will present an overview of how students can search for and apply to engineering school. Tours of the Baxter Innovation Lab will also be available.

Students who attend the event can talk one-on-one with schools like Bradley University, Carthage College, Iowa State, Minnesota State University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Michigan Technological University, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and UW-Milwaukee to learn about their programs.

The CLC Engineering Transfer Program will hold sessions to talk about CLC's guaranteed admissions partnerships.

"Engineering Night is a fantastic opportunity for prospective engineering students to hear directly from several area engineering schools in one evening," said Engineering Department Chair Rob Twardock. "Professional engineers are also available to talk with students in an informal setting about their engineering discipline, how to choose a major, career advice and how to prepare for jobs in engineering. Students can learn a lot in one night without the need to travel all over the Midwest."

If students plan to major in engineering at CLC with the intent to transfer to a four-year university, they may be eligible to receive a scholarship under the National Science Foundation Engineering and Computer Science Scholar Program.

Students and parents are advised to enter from Washington St., and park in lots 8 or 9. Enter the T-Wing through door T-1.
