St. Viator downs Marmion to become playoff eligible

It was a special night for St. Viator quarterback Cooper Kmet and the Lions.

Kmet threw for 422 yards and 7 touchdowns as the Lions finished 5-4 with a 49-22 win over Marmion Friday night in Aurora.

The Lions become playoff eligible with the win.

Kmet completed 19-of-27 passes, 10 to junior Davion Ellis who caught 4 for touchdowns. Ellis grabbed TD passes of 20, 63, 26 and 41 yards.

The junior back also ran for 88 yards on 12 carries, accounting for 311 yards of total offense.

Luca Cutinello grabbed 4 passes for 104 yards which included an 82-yard TD.

Marmion (2-7), which lost its last 6 games, got a 148-yard effort from sophomore Joseph Favia. Favia scored on TD runs of 2, 1 and 8 yards.

Quarterback Henry Garrison threw a 16-yard TD pass to Bryan Scales.
