Libertyville's Ansel Brainerd Cook, NSDAR celebrates the DAR's 133rd Anniversary

To honor the 133rd anniversary of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter as part of the National Day of Service, put together goodie baskets for the Police and Fire Departments in Libertyville and several surrounding towns.

The DAR was founded on October 11, 1890, and the DAR encourages local chapters and their members to engage in meaningful service projects in their communities each year on or around October 11.

For the past several years, the Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter has dedicated their day of service to our First Responders. Our chapter members contributed to the baskets by bringing in goodies to our chapter meetings.

Meijer Food Store in Round Lake Beach donated gift cards so we could fill these baskets to the brim with grab and go snacks for the Police and Fire Departments to enjoy.

The DAR is a non-profit, nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and educating our youth. Throughout its history, NSDAR has welcomed over 1,045,000 members and has over 3,000 chapters across the world.

The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter, NSDAR, is celebrating our 46th year. The chapter was organized in September 1977 in Libertyville by 17 members. The chapter has now grown to include more than 170 members. In 2022, the ABC chapter members logged in 6,821 volunteer hours in the towns we work and live in. This year we are on track to surpass those hours.
