New commissioner joins Wheeling Park District board
Claudia Fonseca was selected and officially seated as a Wheeling Park District Commissioner at the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023 at the Community Recreation Center.
Claudia has resided in Wheeling for over 13 years. She is a marketing manager for a technology company where she has worked for the past 26 years and was past PTO president and treasurer at Mark Twain Elementary School.
Claudia is excited to use her knowledge of the district and her leadership skills to serve the Wheeling community in providing memorable experiences in parks and recreation.
"We are excited to welcome Claudia and look forward to her contributions in furthering our mission," said Sue Stein, president of the board of commissioners.
Serving without compensation, commissioners represent their fellow citizens and interpret their views. They have the primary responsibility of spending tax monies, fees and donations designated for park and recreation services. Board members help set goals, formulate policies and establish services that will meet the present and future needs of the citizens of the district.
The Community Recreation Center is located at 100 Community Blvd., in Wheeling.
