Cleve Carney Museum featuring emerging artists at exhibit opening Oct. 7
Seventeen artists from across the nation will be featured in Cleve Carney Museum of Art's exhibition opening Saturday, Oct. 7.
In the first iteration of this concept since 2018, "Once: 2023 Emerging Artists" showcases contemporary artwork ranging in mediums, size, concept, and technique.
This juried exhibition is an opportunity for a range of artists at the beginning of their careers to display their artwork in a professional museum setting and reach new audiences.
The exhibit follows this summer's blockbuster "WARHOL" exhibition at the museum located on the College of DuPage campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on view through Jan. 7.
Three featured artists have been selected to receive $500 awards for outstanding submissions and one artist will receive a $1,500 award for "Best in Show."
The awards are determined by the panel of jurors and based on the artwork's quality of execution, conceptual clarity as well as its relevance to contemporary art and society.
The award recipients will be announced at the opening reception Saturday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m.
"This exhibition provides early career artists from the community and beyond the opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional setting and to have it seen by our audience," said Justin Witte, gallery director and curator. "While the museum is focused on bringing world-class exhibitions to DuPage County, we are also committed to being a platform for artists to grow their careers."
Out of the 17 featured artists, seven are Chicago-based artists.
