Diamonds Direct partners with GiGi's Playhouse for Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Diamonds Direct, the world's leading authority in diamond sourcing and consumer education, announced its partnership with Hoffman Estates-founded, GiGi's Playhouse, that changes the way the world sees Down syndrome through life-changing free programming and an impactful message of acceptance. In honor of National Down Syndrome Awareness month this October, Diamonds Direct and GiGi's Playhouse collaborated to design and develop four versions of a newly launched, "My Extra Chromosome" pendant, designed by GiGi Gianni, a 21-year-old with Down syndrome and the organization's namesake. Carefully crafted, each pendant varies in style and price and will be available for purchase at Diamonds Direct Schaumburg (1701 E Golf Road) and Oak Brook (1150 W. 22nd St.) locations with a 20% donation going directly to GiGi's Playhouse.

"It is an incredible honor to partner up with GiGi's Playhouse and give back to such an amazing cause," explained Dovy Klarberg, regional president of Diamonds Direct. "One of our missions at Diamonds Direct centers around actively supporting philanthropic initiatives that make a positive impact in our markets across the country, which is why we are extremely excited to finally launch this meaningful collaboration."

The four "My Extra Chromosome" pendants include two sterling silver pendants, a 14k yellow gold with sapphire pendant and a 14k yellow gold diamond and sapphire pendant and will be available for purchase at Schaumburg and Oak Brook stores. In addition to holding the four "My Extra Chromosome" pendants at both Illinois locations, the pendants will be available on Diamonds Direct's website and at other select locations throughout the country including Charleston, Charlotte, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Houston, Baybrook, Raleigh and New Orleans.

"We have worked closely with Diamonds Direct to design and develop the 'My Extra Chromosome' pendant and are thrilled with the results," said Nancy Gianni, founder and Chief Belief Officer of GiGi's Playhouse. "Wearing your Extra Chromosome signifies your love for people with Down syndrome and your commitment to be accepting of people of all abilities. It is amazing to collaborate with companies who support GiGi's Playhouse's mission and we're proud to share our work with Diamonds Direct's customers as well as our own members."

GiGi's Playhouse directly serves 30,000 families in 83 countries, providing free, life-changing educational, therapeutic-based and career development programs through its growing network of 58 Down Syndrome Achievement Centers and Virtual Playhouse.
